In this article, we will explore the Arsenal vs Newcastle United F.C. timeline of previous games and results. I am well aware that football didn’t begin in 1992 when the Premier League began, but I have limited resources and had to start somewhere. I decided the beginning of the Premier League was as good a place as any and would provide more than enough insight into the recent history and results between Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Between 1992 and now, Newcastle United spent just three seasons outside the top flight, while Arsenal have been in the Premier League every season since its inauguration. Therefore, this fixture has brought plenty of exciting games.
I have split this Arsenal vs Newcastle United F.C. timeline into multiple sections based on seasons, beginning with the most recent fixtures in order to improve readability.

We’re at St. James’ Park in our Arsenal vs Newcastle United F.C. Timeline, Results & Fixtures article. While a 1-0 game wouldn’t usually make the cut for our featured section, this does because the goal, and the game, was full of controversy. Anthony Gordan’s second-half winner was the subject of three different VAR checks – one check for a possible ball out of play, one check for a possible foul as Joelinton pushed Gabriel in the back, and one check for a possible offside as the ball came back across to Gordon. In the end, VAR decided the goal should stand as they did not see enough evidence from any of the incidents to disallow it.
Seperately, there were calls for a Kai Havertz red card as he lunged in on Sean Longstaff, but just a yellow was shown to the German. In what was probably the worst decision of the evening, Bruno Guimaraes got away without punishment after elbowing Jorginho in the back of the head off the ball.
It was a feisty encounter and a very intense game as Newcastle inflicted Arsenal’s first defeat of the season. Following the game, Mikel Arteta said the decision to not rule out the goal was “an absolute disgrace.” Arteta was charged, but subsequently cleared, by the FA for his comments.

Our Arsenal vs Newcastle United F.C. timeline and results article brings us to this eyewatering game at Emirates Stadium, in which the sides shared 10 goals. Incredibly, this game was 1-1 at half time, before being 2-2 and also 3-3 until Arsenal turned on the style and scored another four goals. Theo Walcott’s third goal is particularly pleasing, in which he was fouled in the box but got back up to score:
