After earlier reports emerged that Philippe Coutinho was on the verge of joining Barcelona from Liverpool, the Reds have now confirmed that the player would leave the club.
A statement on their official website said:
Liverpool FC can confirm Philippe Coutinho will be leaving the club after a transfer agreement was reached with FC Barcelona, subject to medical and agreement of personal terms.
The player now has permission to complete the usual formalities to conclude the transfer immediately.
It has been reported that Liverpool will earn £145m from the sale of their star player, who has been at the club since 2013 after joining from Inter Milan for £8.5m. He scored 41 goals in 152 Premier League games for the Reds, as well as creating 35 goals.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will look to replace him during the current transfer window or not. They have an agreement in place with RB Leipzig which will see Naby Keita join the club in the summer.
