Spain vs Argentina Player Stats – World Cup Final 2026

Spain vs Argentina is our 2026 World Cup Final and it will take place at the New York/New Jersey Stadium at 8pm on Sunday, 19th July 2026.

Spain defeated favourites France 2-0, with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro, in the semi-final to book their place in the final.

Argentina came from behind to beat England 2-1, with Enzo Fernandez’s 85th minute strike cancelling out Anthony Gordon’s opener for England. Lautaro Martinez scored a header in stoppage time to send the South Americans to the final. Lionel Messi assisted both goals.

Spain, the current European champions having won Euro 2024, are looking to win their second World Cup, having previously lifted the famous trophy in 2010.

Argentina, the reigning world champions, having won the World Cup in 2022, and the current South American champions, having won the Copa America in 2024, are attempting to retain their crown and win their fourth World Cup. They have previously won it in 1978, 1986 and 2022.

I have organised all the player stats you need for this one. There are comprehensive player stats nested in the easy-to-read, pre-sorted, expandable tables below, including players to score, players to assist, shots, shots on target, fouls won, fouls committed, cards, goalkeeper saves and a list of the full squad’s form for each team.

We have these stats for every World Cup game (and with the World Cup ending, stats for every major league game when they return, with summer football leagues filling in the gaps during the summer), but the only way to see every game’s stats on one page is by signing up to your 3-day PremPlace free trial by clicking here. It costs just €4.99 per month after. There is more information on our signup page here. Otherwise, the detailed free stats are below, followed by further information about them. I hope you find them helpful!

World Cup Player Stats Explained

These stats cover individual players from teams playing in the World Cup. They’re based on each player’s appearances in their team’s last 6 competitive games – World Cup qualifiers, UEFA Nations League fixtures, Copa America matches, World Cup games once the tournament starts, and so on. Friendlies are not counted.

For each player you’ll see how often they hit certain thresholds (scored, were carded, took shots etc.) over those 6 games. Top 5 hitters from each team are shown, with home team on the left and away team on the right.

Each player accordion shows the leading players for that stat. The columns are:

  • #: Rank within the team.
  • Player: Player name.
  • Pos: Position – G (Goalkeeper), D (Defender), M (Midfielder), F (Forward).
  • X/6: Games where the player hit the threshold, out of their last 6 appearances. So 4/6 means “scored in 4 of their last 6 games.”
  • Tot: Total amount across those games. For 1+ Shots on Target, this is total shots on target across the 6 games.
  • Avg: Per-game average for the player.

A player who appeared in fewer than 6 of the team’s last 6 games will show a smaller denominator – so 2/4 means “hit the threshold in 2 of the 4 games they appeared in.”

Each accordion shows the top 5 players per team. Sometimes you’ll see “top 5+ per team” in the subtitle and more than 5 names listed – that’s when several players are tied at the cutoff. Rather than picking arbitrarily, all players matching the 5th-placed player’s record are shown. So if 7 players are tied on “2 fouls” and one of them happens to be 5th, all 7 are shown.

Rows where the player has appeared in fewer than 4 of the team’s last 6 games are dimmed slightly. The data is correct – it’s just a quiet visual signal that the sample is thinner and probably less reliable than a full 6-game record.

Detailed player-level data isn’t available for every international team. Some teams from confederations outside UEFA and CONMEBOL have limited or no match-level player data in the source feeds.

When a team’s coverage is too thin for a particular stat (less than a quarter of their recent matches have data for it), the team’s column shows “Insufficient data – match-level player coverage not available from source for this team’s recent fixtures.” The other team’s data still appears normally on the other side of the accordion.

At the bottom of each fixture, two squad summary tables show every player who appeared in the team’s last 6 games (and a few who didn’t – those show as zero across the row). Click any column heading to sort – first click is highest first, second click reverses, and so on. Useful for browsing by position or finding a specific player.

  • Players who scored / assisted / goals or assists: Players hitting 1+ goal contribution in a game over the last 6.
  • Shots (on + off target) & Shots on Target: The “Shots” count includes shots on target and shots off target. Blocked shots are not counted – the data source records these against the defender who made the block, not the player whose shot was blocked. “Shots on target” excludes shots that hit the woodwork. Bookmaker markets and other stat sites that include blocked shots may show figures higher than what appears here, so cross-reference if a particular market matters.
  • Fouls Committed, Fouls Won, Foul Involvements: Self-explanatory. Foul Involvements is the sum of fouls committed + fouls won.
  • Carded: Games in which the player received any card (yellow or red counts as 1).
  • Goalkeeper Saves: Various save thresholds. Only goalkeepers appear here – if a keeper doesn’t reach the higher thresholds in any of their games, that accordion is automatically hidden.

Disclaimer

I do my best to ensure the stats here are accurate and up to date, but please remember they’re based on data provided by third-party sources and human error can also come into play so inaccuracies can occur. Also, nothing on this site should be taken as advice or a recommendation – these stats are just here to help you spot patterns, trends, and insights in the matches.
